An Italian tourist was killed by a shark in the Red Sea on Sunday.
Another Italian tourist who was with the victim was injured by the animal.
The attack on the scuba divers took place at Marsa Alam.
The victim, Gianluca Di Gioia, had turned 48 on December 21. He was married and was in Marsa Alam with his family on holiday. He worked at the European Commission at the Joint Research Centre (JRC), the Commission's service for science and knowledge. He lived in France, his wife's country of origin.
