The podcast of Cecilia Sala, an
Italian journalist held in Tehran's notorious Evin Prison since
December 19 in possible retaliation for the December 16 Milan
arrest of a Swiss-Iranian businessman wanted in the US for
allegedly trafficking in drone parts, resumed publishing on
Monday in her honour and that of "all free women".
"Let's start again because journalism is not a crime. Let's
start again so as not to leave unfinished the work begun by
Cecilia three years ago when Stories was born", said Chora News.
"Every day Cecilia Sala gives voice with her podcast to the
stories of the world, and we continue telling you about her and
other free women", it went on. "We're starting again today,"
explained Francesca Milano, editor of the podcast that belongs
to Chora Media, "in order to keep the attention high on
Cecilia's situation and not interrupt her work.
"We are temporarily replacing her, with a rotation in the
editorial office, to give voice to both her story and those of
women who fight for freedom and rights, a trend that Cecilia has
always supported.
"We're starting today with a choral episode, me, (Chora Media
editor in chief and former La Stampa and la Repubbica editor)
Mario Calabresi and Simone Pieranni, in which we explain the
meaning of this initiative.
"Stories resumes, waiting for Cecilia's return, continuing to
give voice to the stories that are close to her heart.
"Starting tomorrow we will start with the real stories and every
day, when possible, we will try to give updates on Cecilia's
situation", explained Milano.
"At the moment we don't have any: we can only wait", she
concluded, "and have faith in the authorities".
