A Swiss-Iranian businessman arrested
in Milan on a US terror warrant three days before journalist
Cecilia Sala was arrested for allegedly breaking Islamic law in
Tehran filed for house arrest Monday as he fights an American
extradition request.
The lawyer of Mohammad Abedini Najafabadi, the Iranian citizen
stopped on December 16 by order of the American justice system
at Milan's Malpensa airport, presented the request for house
arrest.
Lawyer Alfredo De Francesco brought to the attention of the
judges of the Court of Appeal of Milan a document in which he
requests a weakening of the precautionary measure, also naming
the place, a home in Italy, where Abedini can be transferred if
necessary.
