A 44-year-old Italo-Egyptian ex adult
film actor held in Cairo since November 9 on charges of
spreading pornographic material has been acquitted, his lawyer
told ANSA Monday.
Elanain Sharif, detained in Egypt after being stopped upon
arrival in Cairo at the beginning of November, has reportedly
been acquitted of the accusation of producing and distributing
pornographic material, ANSA learned from the lawyer Alessandro
Russo who is assisting the mother who lives in Foligno while the
son is resident in Terni.
"According to what I was told, it seems he has been acquitted
and should be released tomorrow and has already been summoned by
the consul. The work between the Farnesina (foreign ministry)
and the consulate on site, together with the Egyptian lawyer,
has allowed us to obtain the acquittal in a rather delicate
case", Russo said.
Sharif, whose adult film handle is Sheri Taliani, was born in
Egypt but has Italian citizenship and lives in the central
Umbrian city of Terni.
It had been feared he might have been swallowed up by the
Egyptian legal system.
