Jannik Sinner, Giorgia Meloni and Donald Trump are the three most searched names in 2024 on the portal treccani.it which has over a million pages visited per day, the iconic Italian dictionary and encyclopaedia Treccani said Monday.
For the Italian world number one tennis player it could not be otherwise, considering the "extraordinary successes achieved" which, according to Treccani, "have put Sinner in the spotlight since he was a teenager".
Not far behind, on the podium of the most clicked on the portal treccani.it, Giorgia Meloni, the first woman in the history of the Republic to assume the position of premier. "has been interested in politics since adolescence and in 1996 began her militancy in the (post-fascist) National Alliance as head of the student movement", recalls Treccani.
Third place for Donald Trump, the newly elected president of the United States, who has "never ceased to attract the public's attention and gave rise to the term Trumpism, recorded in record time by the Treccani dictionary".
Following in the special ranking of the 10 most searched for on the treccani.it portal are Yulia Navalnaya, widow of Russian political activist Aleksei Navalny, persecuted and deceased in Kharp in February this year; Angelina Mango, winner of the latest edition of Sanremo; Ahoo Daryaei, the Iranian student who became famous for having herself photographed partially undressed, sparking the regime's repression; Kate Middleton, wife of the heir to the British throne William; Elon Musk, at the helm of Tesla and X; South Korean writer Han Kang, Nobel Prize winner for literature, and Maura Delpero, the 2024 Silver Lion director, in the running for the Oscar for best foreign film with the Olmiesque Vermiglio.
