A 25-year-old woman died in a fire in
the concierge's quarters of an apartment building in downtown
Turin in the night between Monday and Tuesday.
The fire was reported in Corso Vittorio Emanuele II, in the
historic centre of the north-western city.
The blaze flared up at around 4 in the morning on Tuesday in the
concierge's apartment, according to rescuers.
Firefighters who rushed to the scene said it was possibly caused
by a malfunctioning exhaust pipe, although they are not ruling
out other possibilities including a short circuit.
The victim's parents, who are originally from the Philippines,
have been taken to hospital but their condition is not serious,
according to well-informed sources.
