A group of pro-Gaza activists put a
keffiyeh on the baby Jesus in a Nativity Scene in Florence's
cathedral on Tuesday.
Shortly before, the activists from 'Florence for Palestine'
hoisted a Palestinian flag and a banner with the words 'End now
Israeli occupation-apartheid-genocide' on the Ponte Vecchio
"distracting Florentines and tourists from shopping" to protest
for Gaza against "the atrocities of the Israeli army and the
dramatic situation in the West Bank", said a note.
Subsequently, the note said "the activists held a flashmob in
front of the nativity scene in the Duomo covering Baby Jesus
with a keffiyeh, the traditional Palestinian headdress".
During the various actions the demonstrators "shouted slogans
'Free Palestine! Gaza will win! Hands off children! Stop
genocide!' and against Netanyahu and the USA".
