Banco BPM filed a complaint with the
country's Antitrust Authority before the end of last year
against UniCredit's bid to take it over, financial-sector
sources said on Wednesday.
In the complaint, Italy's third-biggest lender described the
takeover bid as a 'killer acquisition', aimed at eliminating a
competitor and hampering its operations in a period of major
dynamism featuring a takeover bid for Anima and the purchase of
5% of Mps.
The move follows a complaint to stock-market regulator Consob in
which the BPM asked for UniCredit's bid to be blocked.
