ITA shareholders named the new board
following its merger with Lufthansa on Wednesday naming Sandro
Pappalardo chairman and Joerg Eberhart CEO.
The board is: Antonella Ballone, Eberhart, Lorenza Maggio,
Pappalardo, and Efrem Angelo Valeriani.
Paolo Ciabattoni, Angela Florio and Federico Testa were named as
board of auditors, with Florio appointed chairman.
The German airline took 41% of ITA in the merger, which is set
to be closed by shareholders Thursday.
Eberhart, the new CEO, said: "I am proud and honored to have
been appointed to this prestigious role.
"After more than two years of hard work, this new phase in the
history of the Company will allow us to strengthen our position
and develop strategic synergies that will enhance the growth and
solidity of ITA Airways as a reference Italian carrier, ready to
guarantee the country greater connectivity and passengers a
wider choice of destinations, with a renewed vision of
development, innovation and sustainability".
