Italy is one of the European countries at the forefront of the implementation of the EU-funded post-COVID National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) and the first to have requested the sixth and seventh installments, a European Commission spokesperson told ANSA on Wednesday.
"The Commission and Italy cooperate on a daily basis, with the common objective of dealing with the obstacles and accelerate the payment of funds to beneficiaries", also said the spokesperson, commenting on a study on the manufacturing industry which was published Tuesday.
The European Commission announced last month that it had disbursed Italy's sixth payment for its National Recovery and Resilience Plan worth 8.7 billion euros - 6.9 billion in loans and 1.8 billion in grants.
The NRRP seeks to make the Italian economy greener and more modern with projects financed with the help of 194.4 billion euros in EU grants and low-interest loans under of the bloc's post-Covid Recovery Fund.
The payments are conditional on Italy passing structural reforms.
