ISTAT said Friday that Italy's
exports grew by 22.6% in January compared with the same month in
2021, while imports were up 44.5% in year-on-year terms.
The national statistics agency said exports were up 5.3% in
January compared to December 2021, with a rise of 5.1% to EU
countries and +5.4% to non-EU countries.
It said Italy had a trade deficit of 5.052 billion euros in
January compared to surplus of 1.387bn in January last year.
The was down to an energy deficit of 6.439 billion euros, up
from a deficit of 2.327 billion in January 2021.
