Retail sales fell by 1.1% in value
terms and 1.8% in volume in June with respect to May, ISTAT said
on Wednesday.
The national statistics agency said sales were up 1.4% in value
terms with respect to June 2021 but dropped by 3.8% in volume.
It said the big difference between the year-on-year data for
value and volume was linked to the significant price rises that
have been registered.
It was the first the first year-on-year drop in volume sales
since February 2021.
In the second quarter of 2022 value of sales grew by 1.1%,
whereas volume of sales fell by 0.3% when compared with the
previous quarter, ISTAT said.
