Italy's top news agency ANSA has signed a cooperation agreement with Vietnam's VNA wire service as part of its ongoing drive to boost its international ties.
The agreement was signed in a ceremony held on Monday in Hanoi in the presence of Italy's Ambassador to Antonio Alessandro, with ANSA officials taking part via video link.
"Today's signing (of the cooperation agreement) fills a vacuum in bilateral relations between Italy and Vietnam, in view of the celebrations for the 50th anniversary of them beginning," Alessandro said.
He said the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the States would be marked by "events, activities, visits and opportunities".
The cooperation deal makes it possible for the two agencies to use each other's services for editorial purposes.
"The agreement will make our two countries even closer than they already are and it will offer new opportunities for reciprocal awareness and collaboration between the two agencies on both the editorial and technological fronts," said ANSA Managing Director Stefano De Alessandri.
"This collaboration will soon be able to take a concrete form with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Italy".
