Italian households' perceptions of
their economic situation are steadily worsening and the share
of those who say they have seen their economic situation worsen
compared to the previous year is now more than one in three, a
level never reached before, according to the BES (sustainable
and fair well-being and prosperity) report of national
statistics institute ISTAT.
"This indicator has worsened by 10 percentage points between
2019 and 2022, and reaches 35.1 per cent," researcher Alessandra
Tinto said in presenting the data.
"It also reverses the trend of progressive growth of the
optimistic view of the future and decreasing pessimism that had
been maintained even in the two pandemic years," she added.
