Italy's annual inflation rate was
stable in May at 0.8%, Istat said on Monday, confirming the
preliminary estimate it gave at the end of last month.
The national statistics agency said its consumer price index was
up 0.2% compared to April.
It added that its harmonized index of consumer prices (HICP),
calculated on EU parameters, was also 0.8% in May, down from
0.9% the previous month.
Istat said core inflation (excluding energy and unprocessed
food) slowed, as did inflation excluding energy, with both
indices falling from +2.1% to +2.0%.
