Italian pension spending will peak at
17% of GDP in 2040 but will start falling in 2044, the state
accountancy office said Tuesday.
Spending on pensions will rise to 15.6% of GDP in 2023-24, and
stay at that level until 2028, it said.
The fall from 2044 on will be due to "a generalised application
of the contributions system", the office said.
