In the first quarter of the year, the
tax burden was 37.1 per cent in the first quarter of the year,
up 0.8 percentage points from the same period last year
percentage points compared to the same period of the previous
year, Istat said Tuesday.
The stats agency said that the net borrowing of central
government as a percentage of GDP improved to -8.8% (-11.6% in
the same quarter of 2023).
The primary balance (i.e. debt net of interest debt) was
negative, with a ratio to GDP of -5.3% (-8.5% in the first
quarter of 2023).
