A train strike called by unions on
working conditions has hit the first 'exodus' of Italians for
the summer holidays.
The CUB independent union called the strike citing work safety
and other conditions.
The strike began on Saturday night at 9 pm and will end at the
same time Sunday night.
So far, mainly long-distance, intercity and high-speed services
have been affected.
There is no 'guaranteed band' of essential services.
