Estimates suggest that the Italy's GDP
rose by 0.3% in the second quarter of 2024 with respect to the
previous three months, the same growth rate posted in the first
quarter, Bank of Italy Governor Fabio Panetta said on Tuesday.
"The expansion of services continues, especially those related
to tourism, while the weakness of manufacturing persists,"
Panetta told the assembly of Italian banking association ABI.
"For 2024 as a whole Consensus Economics forecasts indicate
growth of 0.8 per cent.
"The Italian economy is growing at a moderate pace and can count
on strengthening businesses, the solid financial position of
households, and the strength of the banks.
"These factors allow us to look ahead with confidence, but they
should not lead to excessive optimism".
