(ANSA) Naples, February 17 - Naples' Federico II University plans to provide online 'aliases' that transgender students can use to register for exams or borrow books from the library without violation of their privacy, officials said Tuesday.
The regulation providing for the provisional identities for students planning to change sex will put the Neapolitan university in the forefront of academic institutions catering for the needs of transgender students.
The university's Senate first adopted the measure in principle in 2010 following a request by a female student awaiting approval by authorities of a sex change and thus of a corrected name, the officials said.
