A Mexican drug trafficker who is
a prominent member of the Sinaloa Cartel was extradited to the
United States on Wednesday.
Julio Cesar Felix Olivas was arrested at Milan's Malpensa
Airport on May 30 while trying to board a flight to Spain on his
way back to Mexico.
He is wanted in Texas for trafficking large amounts of
cocaine from Guatemala to Mexico to the United States.
Olivas was held in prison in the town of Busto Arsizio
until his extradition order became effective this morning,
sources said.
He was in Italy to attend the May 28 Champions League final
in Milan and spend some time in the Brianza area at the foot of
the Alps in northwestern Lombardy.
Investigators say he is a close aide of Sinaloa drug lord
Joaquin 'El Chapo' Guzman, who was arrested in January after
being on the lam for six months following his second prison
break.
