An Italian climber who had been missing on Annapurna in Nepal since Thursday has now been located and said he was okay, the Himalayan Times said Friday.
Giampaolo Corona, 49, from Trentino, an Alpine guide and
helicopter rescue technician, has scaled several 8,000 metre
peaks in Nepal, Pakistan and India.
A search team established a radio contact with him Friday and he
was seen descending to Camp Four at 7,400 metres, after going
missing about 500 metres further up the Himalayan peak.
"I'm well and for now I don't need any support," Corona
reportedly told the search and rescue helicopter pilot.
