The Omicron variant of COVID-19 has
reached 100% of cases in Italy with the BA.2 sub-variant
"predominant" but the BA.5 sub-strain now up to 23.15%, the
Higher Health Institute (ISS) said Friday.
The ISS published a flash survey conducted with the regional
laboratories and the Bruno Kessler Institute showing that
Italy's COVID-19 contagion curve was rising significantly again.
Italy has dropped almost all COVID restrictions apart from
facemask mandates for public transport, excluding air travel.
