The Italian justice ministry has sent
a request to Brazil to extradite former AC Milan and Brazil
forward Robinho in relation to a definitive conviction to nine
years in jail for gang rape.
The conviction over the gang rape of a 23-year-old Albanian
woman in a Milan night club on January 22, 2013, became
definitive when the supreme Court of Cassation upheld it in
January this year.
The ministry also requested the extradition of one of Robinho's
friends, Ricardo Falco, another Brazilian, in relation to the
case.
Robinho, 38, played for Milan between 2010 and 2014, scoring 25
goals in 108 appearances.
He has 100 Brazil caps and 28 goals for his country.
The Brazilian Constitution does not allow Brazilians to be
extradited from their homeland.
