Italy's COVID-19 Rt transmission
number and case incidence have increased further, the weekly
coronavirus monitoring report of the health ministry and the
Higher Health Commission (ISS) said Friday.
It said the Rt number had risen to 1.30, up from 1.18 in last
week's report.
An Rt above 1 indicates that the virus is in a phase of
expansion.
The incidence has climbed to 504 cases for every 100,000
inhabitants, compared to 441 last week.
It said the proportion of Italy's intensive-care places occupied
by COVID sufferers was 2.4% on October 13, up from 1.8% on
October 6.
The report said 10% of ordinary-ward hospital beds were taken up
by coronavirus patients, up from 8.2% last week.
It said the number of regions/autonomous provinces where the
ordinary-ward COVID occupation rate was over the alert threshold
of 15% had risen from four to six.
They are: Calabria (16%), Friuli Venezia Giulia (17,.%),
province of Bolzano (23.6%), province of Trento (17.2%), Umbria
(26.6%) and Valle d'Aosta, which has the highest rate at 56.7%.
The incidence, meanwhile, was over 900 cases for every 100,000
inhabitants in Bolzano (992.2) and Trento (916.9).
