Italy's COVID-19 Rt transmission
number and case incidence have remained in a downward trend, the
weekly coronavirus monitoring report of the health ministry and
the Higher Health Institute (ISS) said on Friday.
It said the incidence for the October 28-November 3 period was
283 cases for every 100,000 inhabitants, down from 374 the
previous week.
It said the Rt number had fallen to 0.95 from 1.11 last week,
taking it below the threshold of 1 that indicates whether the
epidemic is in a phase of expansion or contraction.
The proportion of ordinary-ward hospital beds taken up by
coronavirus sufferers dropped from 10.8% on October 27 to 10.4%
on November 3.
However, the proportion of intensive-care places taken up by
COVID patients increased from 2.2% to 2.4% over the same period.
The report said four regions were on or above the 15% alert
threshold for the proportion of ordinary-ward beds occupied by
COVID sufferers - Umbria (33.5%), Valle d'Aosta (20.9%), Friuli
Venezia Giulia (17%) and Liguria (15%).
