An 18-month-old boy is in a critical
condition in hospital after being accidentally shot late on
Friday in Pomigliano D'Arco, near Naples.
The child suffered a wound to the abdomen.
The shot went off from a Beretta gun owned by the boy's
grandfather, who had a permit for the weapon.
The grandfather, a shooting instructor, said the gun went off
after he dropped it while cleaning it, sources said.
The child underwent surgery overnight.
