The tornadoes that have ripped across
Lombardy causing two deaths have never been seen before in the
northern region, Governor Attilio Fontana said Tuesday.
The situation regarding the bad weather "is certainly serious,
in the sense that these sudden whirlwinds are situations that
have never occurred in this area. And they have certainly
created significant damage that should not be underestimated,"
said Fontana on the sidelines of a Regional Council meeting.
"We are collecting data to be able to make a request to the
government," he added, "so that the state of emergency situation
can be applied. Surely the damage exceeds 100 million".
