Milan prosecutors have opened a probe
into instigation to commit suicide in relation to the death at
the weekend of Luca Ruffino, the president of publishing company
Visibilia Editore, sources said Monday.
The 60-year-old is thought to have shot himself dead on the
night between Saturday and Sunday at his Milan home.
His body was found by one of his children.
The opening of a probe is a formality that enables prosecutors
to run certain checks and carry out an autopsy and does not mean
they think there was foul play, the sources said.
Ruffino did not have economic or personal problems but he did
have health issues, the sources added.
They said he left a letter of goodbye for his loved ones.
Visibilia Editore was founded by Tourism Minister Daniela
Santanchè.
Ruffino bought her stake in the company in October 2022.
Santanchè recently fended off a no-confidence motion in the
Senate that opposition parties presented after it emerged she is
under investigation in relation to her business activities.
