A 44-year-old prisoner from Lamezia
Terme near Catanzaro was found dead in his cell at Rossano jail
in Calabria on Saturday.
Sources say the man is believed to have taken his own life.
The Castrovillari Public Prosecutor's Office has opened an
investigation.
The man had been in prison custody since last February following
his arrest in a local anti-drug operation.
His alleged suicide comes on the heels of the death of two
female inmates at Le Vallette prison in Turin on Friday.
One woman died after refusing food, water and medication for 18
days and the other committed suicide by hanging herself in her
cell.
