A 21-year-old Florentine man voted
Italy's most handsome four years ago has abandoned his dreams of
showbiz or fashion stardom to train for the priesthood.
Edoardo Santini said in a video on social media Saturday he had
"felt my vocation" after years of studying dramatic arts and
dance in preparation for his childhood ambitions to become a
star on the screen or catwalk.
"At 21 years of age I find myself on the path towards becoming a
priest, God willing," said Santini after entering a seminary
near Florence.
"I've decided to give up modelling work, acting and dance, but I
won't abandon all my passions, I'll just live them differently,"
he said, "offering them up to God".
Santini, also a champion swimmer, was voted Italy's most
beautiful man in 2019, at the age of 17, in a pageant organised
by fashion group ABE.
