The cabinet has approved the
establishment of an Office of the Ombudsman for People with
Disabilities, Disability Minister Alessandra Locatelli
said on Wednesday.
"The Ombudsman will be a point of reference for many citizens,
an operational body with its own autonomy and independence for
the protection of the rights of persons with disabilities, in
compliance with the UN Convention" on the Rights of Persons with
Disabilities, adopted by the General Assembly in December 2006,
said Locatelli.
The disability ombudsman's office will be operational from
January 1, 2025.
