A preliminary investigations judge in
Naples on Tuesday upheld a prosecution request and ordered two
adult teens involved in the gang rape of two cousins aged 10 and
12 in Caivano last July to be sent straight to trial in a
so-called 'immediate' procedure that skips the preliminary
hearing stage.
Pasquale Mosca and Giuseppe Varriale, both 19, will appear for
trial on April 2 on charges of aggravated rape and producing
child porn by filming the attack and then using the video to
threaten the victims.
Both defendants are currently under house arrest in northern
Italy.
Earlier on Tuesday a preliminary investigations judge at Naples
juvenile court ordered an immediate trial for seven minors
implicated in the case that shocked the nation and prompted the
government of Premier Giorgia Meloni to introduce new measures
clamping down on juvenile crime.
Their trial has been set for March 28.
