An Italian woman who killed her
three-year-old son and murdered and dismembered her mother in
Genoa in November 2019 on Thursday got a definitive 27 year jail
term from the high Court of Cassation.
Giulia Stanganini, after murdering her son with a knife, went on
to kill Loredana Stuppazzoni whose body she then dismembered and
hid.
The Court of Cassation upheld the appeal sentence.
The judges declared the woman semi mentally infirm.
At first instance she had been sentenced to life imprisonment
and had been recognised as capable of understanding, on the
other hand.
More recently, an expert psychiatric assessment concluded that
she was capable of understanding at the time of the murders and
partially insane when she cut her mother into pieces.
