Members of the Ultima Generazione (UG
- Last Generation) group on Tuesday targetted the health
ministry in Rome for the latest in a long series of
controversial acts of civil disobedience aiming to highlight the
need to tackle the climate crisis.
The protesters sprayed orange 'paint' over the entrance to the
building, one glued himself to the ground outside it and others
pasted flyers with dramatic "data about the deaths and
sicknesses caused by the heat" linked to global warming.
"I'm here in front of the health ministry because citizens'
health must not continue to be sacrificed on the altar of
profit," said one of the protesters, Leonardo, a 28-year-old
physicist.
Police quickly arrived to remove the group.
As in other stunts, UG used an easy-to-wash off substance for
the protest.
On Monday they sprayed black paint over the front on the justice
ministry in the Italian capital.
