Italy's Marcell Jacobs on Wednesday
said he was an "outsider" when he won his first Olympic gold
three years ago at the Tokyo Games but he feels that he can win
again as champion at the 2024 Paris Games
"Three years ago, I was a completely different person, I arrived
as an outsider and it was my first time at the Olympics, today I
arrive as an Olympic champion and this gives me self-esteem.
"I think that if I did it once I can do it again", he told a
press conference at Casa Italia.
"There is pressure - everybody including myself expect a lot.
"But I am using this as an incentive and not as a weight", said
the 29-year-old El Paso born 100m Olympic and European champ.
He added that he is feeling "positive vibes" in Paris.
Three years ago, Jacobs won a gold medal in a European record of
9.80sec.
He then won a second gold medal by helping Italy to victory in
the 4x100m relay.
