The mother of Saman Abbas, an
18-year-old Italian-Pakistani woman killed by her family at
Novellara near Reggio Emilia in 2021, is scheduled to arrive in
Italy on Thursday afternoon.
After landing at Rome's Fiumicino airport, Nazia Shaheen, 51,
will be taken to jail.
Shaheen was given a life sentence by a court in Reggio Emilia in
December after being found guilty in absentia of her daughter's
homicide, along with the husband, Shabbar Abbas.
She was arrested in May in Pakistan after fleeing Italy
following the murder committed on the night between April 30 and
May 1,2021, and an international arrest warrant had been issued
against her.
After her arrest in Pakistan, she agreed to being extradited to
Italy.
The father, who was also sentenced to life by a court of first
instance, was extradited to Italy a year ago and is behind bars.
