A reported 76 migrants, including 12
minors, reached the pier of Lampedusa on Thursday.
The refugees - who hail from Egypt, Ethiopia and Syria - said
they paid 6,000 euros for the crossing on a 12-metre-long boat
that departed from Sabratha in Libya.
Late on Wednesday, when seven shipwrecked migrants were rescued
after their boat capsized off Libya - an incident in which 21
people were reported missing, including three children - a total
of 54 migrants from Cameroon and Sudan reached the Sicilian
island.
They were rescued by a coast guard Cp327 cutter.
The metal vessel they used for the crossing had departed from El
Amra in Tunisia.
The hotspot on the island Imbriacola district on Thursday was
hosting 148 migrants.
