Entrepreneur Aldo Spinelli on Monday
agreed a plea bargain deal with prosecutors in Genoa to end a
corruption case against him.
Prosecutors were seeking a sentence of three years and two
months and the seizure of 400,000 euros, as well as a temporary
ban on public office and in entering contracts with the public
administration.
A preliminary hearings judge will need to schedule a hearing to
rule in favour or against the plea deal.
The former centre-right governor of Liguria Giovanni Toti and
the CEO of energy group Iren and former chairman of the Western
Ligurian Sea Port Authority, Paolo Emilio Signorini, on Friday
also reached deals with prosecutors to end the corruption case
involving the three.
Spinelli was accused of corrupting Toti in exchange for favours
including the extension of a port terminal concession.
