A preliminary hearings judge (GUP) in
Rome Tuesday ruled to dismiss a tax fraud case against former
culture undersecretary Vittorio Sgarbi and his partner Sabrina
Colle.
The art critic, represented by attorneys Giampaolo Cicconi and
Manuel Varesi, was reported to have debts worth some 715,000
euros with the Revenue Agency.
Prosecutors had requested a trial for Sgarbi in particular
focusing on the purchase of a painting in 2020 at an auction,
claiming his partner, represented by Milan lawyer Giuseppe
Iannaccone, had bought it with money provided by a third person
with the aim of evading Revenue Agency controls.
