After a brief truce on Wednesday, a
fresh bout of bad weather associated with the remnants of
hurricane Kirk currently passing over France and Germany is
expected to pummel central and northern Italy starting on
Thursday, according to Lorenzo Tedici, a meteorologist at
iLMeteo.it.
Starting on Thursday, intense rain has been forecast in Liguria
and Lombardy with the bad weather also hitting the north-eastern
Triveneto area and the entire Tyrrhenian coast from Tuscany to
Campania in the afternoon with strong winds and heavy rainfall,
said Tedici.
Strong southern winds will also lead to a rise in temperatures
in the South with peaks of 34°C in Sicily, 30°C in Puglia and
28°C also expected in the central Marche and Abruzzo regions.
Meanwhile, the African anticyclone will return over the weekend
with cloudy skies in the North-East, Tuscany and part of the
South to be replaced Saturday by sunny weather across the
peninsula and rising temperatures, including in the
Centre-North, said Tedici.
