Italy's spending on State pensions
rose by 7.7 % for an annual total of 347 billion euros in 2023,
pensions-and-social-security agency INPS said on Thursday.
Services provided by the Italian pension system at the end of
2023 were 22,919,888, the agency reported.
In its observatory on pensions and beneficiaries, the agency
noted that, compared to 2022, the number of services increased
by 0.6% while the total value grew by 7.7% with the figure
mainly connected to inflation.
Pensioners were 16,230,157 (+0.6%) with an average income of
21,382 euros a year.
The average annual income from pensions for men was 35% higher
than that of women (24,671 against 18,291 euros), said INPS.
