Search operations resumed on Monday
morning to find Davide Manca, who was reported missing in the
area of Mount Arcosu near Siliqua during a storm in the night
between Saturday and Sunday.
The young man's jeep, travelling with a group of eight people
driving different vehicles, was swept away by the water as it
was crossing a stream while trying to reach a mountain hut.
Firefighters and alpine rescue teams have been deployed in the
area of Siliqua to search for him.
In the night between Saturday and Sunday, some 250 millimetres
of rain fell in an area between Sourthern Sardinia and Oristano,
local authorities said.
And the circulation of trains connecting the Sardinian cities of
Cagliari and Carbonia/Iglesias remained suspended on Monday.
Heavy rain also battered Piedmont and Liguria, among other
areas, at the weekend with one man also reported missing in the
northwestern region after he was swept away by the Rio Lissolo
stream.
