Most Italians fear that the arrival of
some migrants poses a threat to the nation's way of life,
according to the annual report of the research institute Censis,
which was released on Friday.
The report said that "57.4% of Italians feel threatened by those
who want to set rules and habits in our country that are in
contrast with the established Italian way of life".
It said such practices included "the separation of men and women
in public spaces" and women wearing "the full Islamic veil".
The report said 38.3% of Italians are very concerned by people
who want to facilitate the entry of migrants into the country.
It said 29.3% see those who hold a conception of the family that
diverges from the traditional one as an enemy, and 21.8% feel
hostility in people of other religions.
