The two lifeless bodies of Italian
mountaineers missing on Sunday, December 22 on the Gran Sasso
massif in Abruzzo have been identified, rescuers said Friday.
The victims are Cristian Gualdi and Luca Perazzini, both from
Sant'Arcangelo di Romagna.
Since Friday morning, teams from the Alpine Rescue and the
Guardia di Finanza have been operating at altitude with the air
support of an air ambulance from the Abruzzo Region with Alpine
Rescue technicians on board and a Fire Brigade helicopter.
The news was not communicated immediately in order to allow
rescuers to inform the families of the mountaineers.
Operations to recover the two bodies are now underway.
