A woman has kicked her husband out of the family home in order to pursue a relationship with a local priest on Ischia, local media reported Friday.
The man was ejected from the home just before Christmas, they said.
The love story features a 58-year-old parish priest and a 35-year-old housewife, who met in church.
After a while, a relationship began that, according to some witnesses, has been going on for some time.
The diocese of Ischia is not officially commenting on the incident at the moment, but has announced that the priest has decided to suspend himself from religious functions and that the bishop, Monsignor Carlo Villano, hopes that the situation can be resolved.
In 2018, also on Ischia, a similar case occurred when another priest began a relationship with a young woman who attended his church and who then became pregnant.
After being suspended "a divinis" (indefinitely), the man abandoned his cassock.
