The spokesman of the Iranian foreign
ministry, Esmail Baghaei, praised the "cooperation of all sides
involved" in the release of Iranian citizen Mohammad Abedini
Najafabadi, who was arrested in Milan on December 16 on a US
arrest warrant and was released by Italian authorities on
Sunday.
Expressing satisfaction for Abedini's release, Baghaei stressed
the foreign ministry's commitment on this case, noting it "will
not spare any effort in fulfilling its duty to protect the
rights of Iranian citizens abroad".
The Iranian foreign ministry also said that Abedini has returned
to Iran after leaving Italy.
