The European Commission said Monday
it had not detected any suspected Russian drone threat to the
security of the EU Joint Research Centre at Ispra near Varese.
"The Commission is committed to protecting its information,
staff and networks against any possible security threat.
As a
general practice, the Commission does not communicate further on
operational security issues", said Commission spokesperson
Thomas Regnier, questioned about the suspected overflights of a
drone at the centre near Lake Maggiore, suspected to be of
Russian origin.
"On the specific case, we have not observed any violation by
drones of the no-fly zone over the Commission's Ispra site nor
are we aware of any specific related security threat".
