British director Trudie Styler's
'Posso Entrare? An Ode to Naples' on Thursday got the best
documentary prize at the Capri, Hollywood festival on the Bay of
Naples island.
Bromsgrove-born Styler, 69, wife of 72-year-old pop icon Sting,
said "my ode to Naples was born on Ischia, I started thinking
about it during the Ischia Global Festival (another event
founded by Pascal Vicedomini).
"At these festivals we artists and producers have the privilege
of being able to relax, to talk, to listen, and appreciate the
things we do and that is really unique.
Styler said she had been "grateful to be able to explode certain
stereotypes about Naples, for example that it is dangerous".
SAhe also applauded her friend and fellow director Matteo
Garrone who is on the Oscar shortlist with his migrant film Io
Capitano, saying the tale of two Senegalese migrants "transforms
you".
Styler, who is one of the faces for Rome's bid to host the 2030
Expo, said of Naples when her 'ode' debuted at the Rome festival
in October: "It's a city that is full of life, teeming, a city
in
chiaroscuro."
