Donatella Di Pietrantonio on Tuesday
won the Strega Giovani Prize, the version of Italy's top
literary competition judged by teenagers between the ages of 16
and 18 from over 100 secondary schools in Italy and abroad.
Abruzzo-born Di Pietrantonio, 62, won with L'Età Fragile (The
Fragile Age).
The writer is best known for her novels My Mother is a River and
A Girl Returned.
The winner of the 11th edition of the prize was announced at the
Tor Bella Monaca Theatre on the outskirts of Rome, the first
stage of the new Fondazione Bellonci project 'Storie di
Periferia. Bringing the suburbs back to the centre of history'.
